About PHAT Mommy
I’m Shannon, a 40 year old homeschooling mother, blogger, web designer, and lover of all things internet. I have been married for 15 years to a wonderful husband, father and marketing guru, and we have two children, a 10 yo son and a 4 yo daughter.
I started blogging in March 2005 to share updates with family and friends, but this blog has evolved into a true passion for me. I write about parenting, homeschooling, technology, social media and blogging, as well as the occasional political post. I am a libertarian individualist in favor of capitalism, hands-off government, and the separation of school and state. In my off-line life, I enjoy scrapbooking, skiing, swimming, and shopping. You’ll find a little of everything here, and it is my hope you find something that makes you think outside the box.
What’s my story? Read on…
I founded FitnessLink.com, an online fitness information magazine, in 1995 and served as writer, editor, publisher, and web designer. With my writing talent and my husbandâÂÂs marketing genius, the site grew to become one of the most popular fitness sites on the web. In late 2000, we sold FitnessLink to a web content portal. I also designed and developed several web sites, co-authored The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Online Health and Fitness (Macmillan, 1999), was a columnist for Physical Magazine, and contributed numerous feature articles in newspapers and fitness magazines. I was also a fitness instructor at a local health club for close to 10 years. I took a few years off from freelancing to focus on my family, and now my urge to design and write is assuaged by blogging.
You can find links to pretty much everything I do online at my landing page: shannonentin.com. My blog designs can be seen here. I am Editor of the Digital Bliss channel at Blissfully Domestic and I also blog at Gaming and Learning.
Contact me via Twitter @phatmommy or at phatmommy (at) gmail.com.
Please note that I generally do not review products on this blog unless they are related to homeschooling. I do review board games, card games, video games, and online gaming communities for my Gaming and Learning site.
