The 30-Day Life/Blog Happiness Project

// 6.15.09 // Filed under: Food & Fitness, Homeschooling, Tech & Blogging, Thriving

happy_sunMost of my life I’ve been mistaken for someone in a bad mood. I think it’s genetic to some extent (um, Hi Mom!) because my sister has the same issue (um, Hi Sis!). When we answer the phone people ask us, “What’s wrong?” We just have gloomy dispositions. And I’m sometimes anxious and overwhelmed and not particularly social.

I was never particularly bothered by this facet of my personality until I started noticing it manifesting in my children. After reading a magazine editorial that said, “Smile more. Your face speaks volumes to your child,” the truth I’ve always known was driven home once again: What you model is way more important than anything else you do in raising your children.

And there’s the issues of my weight (not happy with it) and my career (need to commit and focus).

So today I am starting my 30-Day Life/Blog Happiness Project. My goals?

Every day I’ll post an update of how I’m doing. It’s a lot of work to change life-long habits, but perhaps with accountability and the help of a wonderful blogging community (not to mention a supportive spouse), my children can soon see a happier, healthier face when they look at me.

Minus the 5K and the blog thing, my husband has started the same thing for the same reasons.

I, of course, was quite happy, but he’s seen an immediate difference in the children which is exciting.

BRILLIANT post! I have been seeing more and more of my mannerisms showing up in my almost-8 year old (and even more from my mom who lives with us!). A short temper is *NOT* something I need her to inherit from me!

Thanks for the sharing. Great articles.

  4. I am right there with you. You sure were right when you said we have a lot in common.

I just bought the 31 day days to a better blog from Problogger.net and I started this week too. I signed up to do it via e-mail, but I was never able to keep up.

My 30 day journeys started in May when I got my EASactive and started the 30 day fitness challenge. It got me motivatd to start making some other changes. So, this week I decided to start the problogger 31 days and I’ve started a gratitude journal again.

Now, the key is to keep it up.

Hey. It’s brilliant. ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ – easier said than done right. But actually it can be done if you are focoused on being happy. Focus on what you want. This may even help your children do the same. To encourage your child on the above please visit http://www.kidz4mation.com. We beleive in giving the child a best start in the life.
