Operation Baby Bear
// 6.19.09 // Filed under: My Daughter, Parenting
When my daughter was born my Mom bought her a stuffed bear with a blanket for a body. As soon as Cassie was old enough to know what it was, it was dubbed “Baby Bear” and carried around everywhere. It is well-loved and still in pretty good shape, except for the paws that are nearly dismembered and the silky ribbon on the bottom which has been worn to shreds and fallen off.
Being the (somewhat) crafty Mom that I am, I brought my daughter to Michael’s and had her pick out some silky ribbon. I pulled out my sewing machine and prepared for Operation Baby Bear. When she first saw the sewing machine, needles, pins and scissors, she was pretty nervous.

But she got over it quickly enough and wanted to help.

I sewed a new, shiny, silky ribbon on the bottom. Cassie wanted “hot pink” instead of a lighter pink that matched.

But we used light pink for the paws. They look a little Frankenstein-esque, but are soft and silky nonetheless.

And tonight, all is well in the world again.

Oh, I guess Cassie is soo happy again. Not every mom knows how to handle a sewing machine so well done there!

Ah yes…the things we do for our children and their loveys. My oldest had a flashcard with a retro robot on it (that had to be taped with packing tape to laminate it several times) then a “lady” dog from lady and the tramp, for the past 2.5 yrs it’s been a frog.
My youngest has a lovey she calls “raggy” because it looks like a rag, it’s the pocket off of one of my bathrobes!! Can’t sleep without it since she was a few months old.
By the way…I forgot to metnion – HAPPY SITS DAY!!!! : )
