Experimenting with New Social Media Tools

// 9.10.07 // Filed under: Link Love, Tech & Blogging, Thriving

I’ve decided I completely heart Twitter and especially TwitBin, which allows me to tweet, and see those I follow, right from the sidebar of my Firefox browser. It’s everything I love about email and IM, without the stuff I don’t like:

  • I can stalk follow people I find interesting without having to specifically interact with them.
  • I get quick updates from people without the pressure to respond instantly, although I can respond if I want to.
  • I have the ability to jot down thoughts as they occur and refer back to them later.
  • I can keep on top of others’ blog posts and the things they are discovering.

I’m using Alex King’s Twitter Tools plug-in on this web site and will be experimenting with the option to post a list of my tweets daily. We’ll see if I find it useful at all, or if anyone else finds it thought-provoking. I kinda doubt it, but I have been posting tweets about good blog posts and social media tools I’m finding, so the daily summaries could be interesting.

Another tool you should check out is coComment. It tracks your comments and keeps them all organized in a nice little interface. I’m just starting to use this, so more thoughts to come.

Oh, wait. Doesn’t this post belong on my Blogging For Parents blog?
If you’re into blogging more efficiently, using fun new tools, enhancing and growing your blog, and/or making money, please check out my new blog. I’m working on a re-design so the comments work better and some other small issues are taken care of.

I don’t know why I haven’t embraced the whole Twitter concept. I have the Firefox thing on my bottom toolbar, and I see people updating it constantly all day long. I’m too busy thinking and working to Twitter about thinking and working! LOL

P.S. I’d love to have you renew your Blogad with me!

I haven’t jumped on the Twitter bandwagon yet, either, although I just may now. I wasn’t sure what it was, exactly. I do use CoComment and love it. I use their sidebar widget so my readers can see where I’ve been and what I’m commenting about.

I have joined twitter, but it’s just kinda lame so I didn’t stick around the site. But it is a nifty idea.

I joined Twitter. I don’t get it but I like writing down everything I’m doing. I also joined Askville this morning. . . because what I need to be doing is spending MORE time on the Interweb.
