Take a (Lemonade) Stand

Here’s a great way for kids to learn about the fine art of running a lemonade stand: Sunkist’s Take a Stand 2007. For $25, Sunkist is offering lemonade stand kits to kids ages 7 to 12 who want to raise money for their favorite charity. (Every year Sunkist gives away 10,000 of these kits, but apparently they are already gone this year.)

You could also set up your own lemonade stand and check out the Sunkist site for recipes, printables, safety tips and more. This is a great concept that allows kids to learn about measurement (preparing the lemonade), money, economics, marketing, art, and charity.

We did this last year, and my daughter loved it so much that we will once again be raising money for Second Harvest.

Fun, educational and charitable. Can you think of a more productive way to teach kids about helping others?
