Cheerios – So Much More Than Food
// 5.1.07 // Filed under: Parenting
Cheerios has a new fruity variety – like Froot Loops, but with less sugar. When they asked me to review the new cereal, I immediately accepted because (a) we had already tried Fruity Cheerios and liked them and (b) I had some great craft recommendations using the cereal. Crafts? You betcha!
First, the taste: Yummy, but not too sweet or too neon in color.
Second, the fun stuff: Cereal Sand Art and a Fruity Tambourine.
For the sand art project, sort the Fruity Cheerios into different colors, then crush them to a powdery consistency in ziplok bags. Take baby food jars or any clear plastic or glass container and let the kids pour the different colors in layers to make “sand” art.
To make a fruity tambourine, you’ll need two paper plates, crayons, markers and/or stickers, ribbon or streamers and a stapler. Have your child decorate the backs of the paper plates with the crayons and stickers. Then place one paper plate on the table and pour some Fruity Cheerios on it. Turn the second paper plate upside down and put it on top of the first, then staple them together tightly around the edges while also attaching the ribbon/streamers. Put on some music and shake, shake, shake!
Modern Mom is having a Fruity Cheerios Family Fun contest. You can win a case of Cheerios and $500 if you submit the winning photo or video showing how Fruity Cheerios contributes to family fun. So make some Fruity Tambourines, take photos and videos, and enter today!

You getting your Cheerios from Charlie? He was my supplier
I thought they smelled like Corn Pops, which bothered me way more than it probably should of.
I love the cherrio ideas! I’m so not crafty, I would have never even thought of this.
I love them. My mom gave us all the time cheerios and as an adult I still look for them when i’m shopping. Good memories too!
