Happy Love Day!

I love Valentine’s Day like some people love Christmas. I usually decorate, send out homemade cards with photos of the kids dressed in handsome red and pink apparel, and prepare special meals and treats. But this year I completely missed the boat.
I’ve been out of it for weeks. We’ve all been sick and I now have a deep chest cough that won’t quit. Love Day snuck up on me and I haven’t sent one card or put up one decoration. The kids had a Valentine’s Day party scheduled with friends, but it’s been cancelled because we’re having some icy weather. I had absolutely no plans for making today special, but thanks to PHAT Daddy I pulled myself out of my funk and spread some love around the PHAT house.
You see, this morning I woke to find a wrapped gift on the hearth. It was a Duraflame firelog. I chuckled, finding this a very romantic symbol of my husband’s enduring love. But even better was the fact that he made me blueberry pancakes for breakfast and built a fire (without even using the Duraflame - I must add this because he is quite proud of his fire-building skills). I got the kids dressed and we went out in the snow with some snow paint.
L and I made a happy face:
Then C stepped all over it and cackled at us:
After lunch we made some heart-shaped brownies and decorated them:
And they posed for a picture:
Now I’m cozied-up in front of the fire, writing this post and watching the Valentine’s Day specials on Nick Jr. I have a pretty wonderful life. Happy Valentine’s Day to all my family and friends.

PHAT = Parenting, Homeschooling And Technology. That about sums up my life at the moment.

Looks like a decent love day to me! Coincidentally, we tried to make heart shaped brownies too, but they turned out like mishappen lumps. So good job!
