The Birthday Boy

// 11.26.06 // Filed under: My Son

Wow! We had fantastic weather and an awesome party for L today.

We had a “Medieval Knights” theme. Upon arrival, each child received an inflatable sword. They ran around outside for a bit, then we served lunch: a medieval meal of roasted chicken, hunks of bread, and grapes… and, of course, pizza! After lunch, we had games. PHAT Daddy hid several items on our property, then created two lists and a treasure map. The kids divided into two teams and had a treasure hunt to find everything on their lists. Next, we had a “test of skill.” It was a relay race in which the kids had to run down the deck, take a toothpick out of a small block of styrofoam (which I was holding), then pop a balloon (we had two columns of balloons attached to pieces of wood), put the toothpick back and run to tag the next person on their team. Finally, the kids had to slay the fire-breathing dragon – a pinata. The games were a huge success – the kids had a blast.

We did cake and presents a little later. Our castle cake came out terrific. Here are photos of the birthday boy and his cake.
