I’m working on a blog design this week and having a crisis. I love blogging and creating blog designs so much, but I keep falling back into this “I am a writer” thing. I’m comfortable with that description of myself. It sounds respectable and it can be profitable. But in my heart of hearts, I don’t love it all that much. What I do love is finding information, editorializing about it, and passing it on. And I love playing with web design and graphics. I have good design sense, but my technical skills are just a bit shy of what’s necessary to hang out my “official blog designer” hat. But I could get there if I put in the time to learn…
So while I have my little crisis, I’ll point you all to some good reads…
Anyone interested in tweaking, hacking, or promoting their blog should check out Random Bytes. Pam’s got lots of goodiness there for bloggers.
This week’s Carnival of Homeschooling is posted at The Common Room.
Mother Crone recommends Christopher Paolini’s book Eldest and discusses how the book teaches the importance of thinking logically and being responsible for our own actions. Sounds like it’s right up my alley.

BTW, I looked up the grade level for Eragon, and bookadventure lists it at 8th grade level. Girlfriend has picked it up and is loving it! I think Luke would enjoy it, but the war scenes might be graphic for a sensitive kid. I am assuming with your love of Star Wars, he would have no problem with it!
Hi Shannon,
Lots of traffic from your blog this morning. Thanks for the mention!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check out Random Bytes. If you ever do decide to design professionally, let me know!
