Thank you Molly Mathews

A few weeks ago, we borrowed a book from the library called Big Girls Use the Potty! Although we are not working on potty training yet, it looked like a cute book and I wanted to start planting seeds in my daughter’s head. She loved the book. LOVED it. We read it several times a day.
The book goes something like this: “My name is Molly Mathews and I’m really starting to grow. Soon I’ll be a big girl and my diapers will have to go.” My daughter took a liking to Molly and soon Molly became synonymous with all things “big girl.” Throwing food? Molly Mathews doesn’t throw food. Getting dressed? Molly Mathews loves to get dressed!
Last week C was objecting to going to bed. So I turned out her light, rubbed her back, and said “Molly Mathews goes to sleep like a big girl. She closes her eyes and goes to sleep with no crying.” I kissed C and left the room, expecting to hear her familiar wails of “Mommy! Come in! Lie down!” But that night? Silence. She went right to sleep.
Thank you Molly Mathews.
