Ahh, at some point the two under three falls into place. You find a routine to your day - almost a dance. It comes together in a new way. Now, three kids with two under three...not sure I could do. Now that they're older, I honestly love the two year age difference. I do. then I realize that when I was a kid, I loved the four year difference between my brother and I. My two are 17 months apart and it was crazy hard at first. But now it's great because they play together!! That's wonderful, but it took until #2 was a year old before that happened. In 1990 I had a 6-yr-old, a 4-yr-old and a 6-month-old baby when I found out I was pregnant with number four! I have friends with three or more kids in the baby/toddler/preschool range and I am always so glad to go home to my one little girl. I can babysit for them or do a few days but one is good for me. I was thrown into that life...for real. Remember, Scout is my stepson, and we didn't gain custody until he was four. When Girlfriend was 8 days old, and me a brand new Mommy, Scout's mother dropped him off wiht bronchitis and took off for a few weeks. She was having a hard time and couldn't deal with being a mom. Holy freakin' God was I overwhelmed,as Scout was a very busy two-year old! Soon after she showed up again, the custody was split and I had him four days a week. Those days with both always flew by, and I didn't feel able to relax at all. It was the quality time alone with the kids that I missed, the singing or reading or snuggling.
