Laundry Paraphernalia

Laundry. It’s my new obsession.
Up until a few weeks ago I used only two laundry products: The jumbo size Tide (far right in the photo) and Bounce fabric softener. I never varied these staples. They were adequate for my family’s needs. I mean, it’s laundry. What’s to think about?
Then my daughter stained a shirt. A really cool shirt. A shirt that I spent way too much money on for a two-year-old. Suddenly, I found myself in the laundry aisle at the supermarket, investigating stain-removing sticks, sprays and formulas. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a purple container of Tide. Purple? I took a closer look.
The new Tide was Simple Pleasures in Lavender & Vanilla scent. Sniff sniff. Mmmmm. Into the cart. And, oh!, they sell dryer sheets in a matching scent. I proceeded to go down the aisle, smelling and exploring the myriad of laundry options I had never paid attention to.
I looked forward to doing laundry that night. Armed with my new OxiClean stain remover and Clorox bleach for colors, I was ready to tackle the stained shirt. When I ran the washer, my basement filled with the scent of Lavender & Vanilla, and folding the warm, scented clothing was almost like aromatherapy. A whole new world has opened up to me. I can’t wait to try the Rose & Violet scent!

I tend to just buy what’s on sale, as long as it doesn’t suck–I got the huge purple Tide for $10 a few weeks ago and was so excited at my discount score. Tide is like the holy grail of detergents. I know. I spill a lot.

But did you get the stain out? I’ve been using the Simple Pleasures Lavendar and Vanilla Downy for a bit now, but I haven’t run out of my big bottle of Tide yet to try it in the Tide. I also want to try some of the other scents.

I can’t usually afford to get tide, but when I can I get it, because I LOVE it. I like the NEW scented varieties (sp) as well. Now, though… you got me to thinking about the aroma therapy… my hubby and I have traded “chores” laundry for trash duty, but I might (MIGHT) have to take laundry back! LOL

Yes, but did you get the stain out. (See my big grin?)
If you did…then what trick did you use. Come on, mother’s of messy children need to know!

No, I did not get the stain out.
After she stained the shirt, I put some stain remover on it, then threw it in the laundry basket. A few days flew by and I didn’t get to the laundry, so the shirt (soaked with stain remover and crumpled in the laundry) got some mold stains. The point of my post was really my new love affair with scented detergent,m but I guess I could write a whole new post about letting your laundry go so long that it grows mold. Anyway, I’ve tried lots of things and the mold stains won’t come out. Ideas anyone?

try soaking it in Lestoil…I’ve had good luck using it on many seemingly hopeless stains.
You may have to rinse it several times to get the Lestoil smell out but it should work

Depends on the color of the garment, but you could try lemon juice. Bleach will work, but well you know what will happen if it’s colored.

ugh I found this site and came across all this tide talk and yes tide smells wonderful…unfortunately I’m allergic to it. But I write because I cant bare to think that I’ve stained my expensive brand new red dress beyond repair. Another woman splatted chicken grease on me at a wedding and the dry cleaners have tried 4 times to remove it. Is it hopeless? What can i do? Will the lestoil work or can it worsen things?
