The Dog in Central Park
OK, so what’s up with this?

The PHAT family visited my sister and her new baby boy in NYC and we took a picnic lunch to Central Park. On the way home, we saw this dog. Someone, please tell me - is this a BREED of dog? Or did someone just let the dog’s hair grow and put dreadlocks in it? And if so, isn’t that like dog abuse or something? Sadly, the dog looked really dirty and smelled nasty.
More photos to come from Central Park. I’ve been crazy busy here with home improvement projects and planning for C’s 2nd birthday party this weekend.
Oh, and, what else? I’m starting a new homeschooling information web site. Stay tuned!

PHAT = Parenting, Homeschooling And Technology. That about sums up my life at the moment.

That is not a dog. That is a collection of old mops on a string.
Ok, so you’ve got a daughter with a birthday this time of year? It’s offical, we are the same person. We are. Really. Meg’s birthday party was this past Saturday. Her 2nd birthday is tomorrow.

The dog you saw is a Puli. And, yes - its hair really does grow like that, without intervention. Wild, huh? Unfortunately, that hair makes Pulis very high maintenence as far as grooming goes. It doesn’t take much for that kind of dog to get really dirty and smelly. We have two Shih Tzus - also long-coated dogs - but we keep them clipped really short (puppy cuts) to avoid that problem. However, I’m not sure if you can buzz-cut a Puli…..

That is not a PULI. That is a KOMONDOR. Pulis are black and small. Komondors are big and white-ish.

Actually, a Puli CAN be white, but I still say that’s a Komondor. I’ve seen both, and Pulis are smaller.
