Humpty Dumpty Fell In the Pool
I had a lovely afternoon today. Three hours in the ER.
Today was a gorgeous day. The kids were playing in the sandbox and I went to the pool to putter around, sweep some leaves, and put the solar cover back on. As I was leaning over to pull the cover, I lost my balance. But instead of falling straight into the pool, I tried to catch myself, my arms flailing. It probably looked like one of those falls you see on a cartoon.
I went head-first into the edge of the pool, smacking my forehead and then falling - fully clothed - into the pool. The pain was blinding. I made my way out of the pool, crying and yelling at L to “GO GET DADDY!” PHAT Daddy took one look at my head and ran inside, immediately producing a bag of frozen peas that he instructed me to put on my head.
I sat on the deck, a soggy, sobbing mess, while my husband and the kids got me dry clothes and piled into the car. I protested. “I’m fine. I really don’t think I need to go to the hospital.” But when I looked in a mirror, I could see why they insisted. All around my right eye was swollen and approaching a purple color. I felt a little dizzy and nauseous and holy cow did my head hurt.
Long story short, I got an x-ray and everything is fine. My injury didn’t even warrant a subscription for codeine. Hmph. By the time I left the ER, I was already feeling better and the purple-ness was subsiding. I wonder what it’s going to look like in the morning…

I think you meant “perscription,” but I’m sure your head was throbbing! And, what do you mean no codeine!? What’s the matter with those people!? Don’t they know you are a wife & mother, and you NEVER get a day off!? That alone warrants a little “Vitamin C!”
Feel better soon, Cookie!

Egads! So sorry to read this. I hope you’re feeling better today. Why do these things always seem to happen the week before you’re hosting a party? I hope PHAT Daddy is allowing you some rest today. Are ya gonna post a picture for us?

Oh my!!! I hope your head is not hurting too much. Luke must have had quite a fright seeing you hurt so. Does he know he is Mommy’s hero for getting Daddy so quickly?!! So what does it look like today? … Does it look like the pool won? Take care.

Is your head all lumpy like Yoda’s?….Oh Sorry:
Head all lumpy like yoda. Is it?
Ah, better safe then sorry. I went to the ER with what I thought was food poisoning and would go away, but I felt better after they took out my appendix.
Oh, and please throw out those peas!

Yowzers that looks nasty. I’m sorry you had to have this happen and glad it wasn’t worse than it was. I had to laugh about the peas. I keep a few bags in the fridge just for that purpose.

Actually, I think a SUBscription to codeine would be better! LOL
