The Verbal Skills of a 19-month-old
I love hearing my little girl talk. Even better is hearing her sing. Today in the car - since our High School Musical soundtrack has not arrived yet - we listened to some classic disco songs sung by kids. Celebration. Car Wash. Knock on Wood. YMCA. Here’s what I heard:
Music: “Ce-le-brate good times, c’mon!
C: “Ceh! … c’mon!” (She doesn’t have the “L” sound yet and she sings everything a beat late.)
Music: “You better knock, knock, knock on wood, baby. Ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, baby.”
C: “Knock … knock … baby! Woo hoo!” (This is accompanied by intense head bobbing in time with the beat.)

And at dinner: “Toe! Fock! Mmm!” (Translation: Potato! Fork! Yum!)

PHAT = Parenting, Homeschooling And Technology. That about sums up my life at the moment.

Oh, that is too cute! That will last for a while yet. My daughter is eight, and she’s been singing “Play that funkin music white boy…” It’s supposed to be ‘funky’ and let me tell you, when you’re singing it fast, ‘funkin’ does not sound too great!

…one more thing. I just noticed that you are a homeschooling mom–I homeschooled for six years. CWO, an ezine I run, just added Home Schooling this month. If you want to visit, it’s at:

It’s stuff like this that makes me regret not replacing our failing video camera. Hope you’re able to capture some of these Leia classics!
(She’d adorable by the way. Love those big blue eyes.)
