My Google Addiction
Is it just me or does Google own you, too? Not to get all conspiracy theory on you (although I am prone to that line of thinking), but if the government wanted private information about me, Google would be a stellar place to start their investigation. There’s the Google search bar in my browser (where Google tracks every page I visit and everything I search for), there’s Gmail (where Google archives every email I’ve ever sent or received), and there’s Google Groups (ditto Gmail).
But this post isn’t about conspiracy theories. It’s about my new Google addiction… Google Alerts. I can’t stop using. I want to stop, to control the urge to read every. single. article. that visits my inbox. But I simply can’t resist the temptation of information. It’s out there, and Google is bringing it to me, and I am interested in it, and I MUST READ IT NOW.
Google, I think I love you.

I have had my home page set to Google for years. I use it too much to keep typing in the URL. Google is as necessary to my computer as TiVo is to my TV.
