We Won!!!

Our local supermarket held a sweepstakes to give away their Star Wars store displays. I filled out several entry forms, then brought a bunch home so I could write them out and bring them back next time we went shopping. Yes, I stuffed the ballot box. And it paid off because we got a call the other day letting us know we won the R2D2 display! Wahoo!

Here’s the funny part. A couple weeks ago, our whole family was out and about and we stopped for gas at a local convenience store/gas station. As we were leaving, we saw an R2D2 POP display out in back of the store. It was actually an ice cooler from the Pepsi Company. That would be SO COOL to have out by our pool! PHAT Daddy went in to find the manager and ask if it was being trashed and if so, could we take it? The answer was no, R2 was just waiting behind the store for the Pepsi man to come and refill him. Disappointed, we looked on ebay when we got home and found such POP displays going for about $200, a bit too much to spend. Then, lo and behold, fate stepped in and delivered that ice cooler to us. When the supermarket manager wheeled it out to my eager son (who wants to keep it in his bedroom), I was shocked to see that it was the same cooler we saw behind the convenience store. Yeah, it’s gonna be so cool to wheel out R2 during pool parties.
