Pregnant!

No, I’m not pregnant. But a very good friend of mine is.

Our friends - I’ll call them Mike & Harriet - have been trying for a baby for several years and have also been trying to adopt for over a year. And now they are pregnant! I am feeling very emotional about this news. I’ve always felt that they will be the most wonderful parents. They are artistic, intelligent, fun-loving and strong, and they balance each other perfectly.

When we get together, we have engaging conversations long into the night. I’ve known them since before I became a mother, and I’ve always wanted to share the bond of “parenthood” with them, discussing the highs and lows and learning from one another. I so look forward to sharing their joy and experiences as they embark on this new chapter in their lives.

I know you are reading this, Harriet. So Happy Mother’s Day, my friend. I love you.
